One day remains until the completion of one year since that night.
The night when rage was succeeded by tears, when tears were succeeded by despair and a sense of withdrawal, and vice versa.
That night, our lives changed.
Alkis our child, Alkis our brother, we ask for your forgiveness!
Forgiveness, for leaving you unprotected in a decayed society, the society of subhumans that we allowed to be created here in our city.
HOWEVER, we will strive to keep you alive among us.
We are striving to put into practice the soul-stirring lyric from the song written by Kostas Tournas:
“I am Alkis and I can now live through you,
as long as you know how…
to speak…
for me to speak to you.”
Sometimes we succeed, other times we do not.
Our Alkis, we want you to become a symbol and an aura of change, so that society may reap something… however small, from all that we are certain you would have offered it, had they allowed you to live.
Thus, we address each and every one of you, and IN THE NAME OF ALKIS, we ask you to help us shape a different TOMORROW.
Tomorrow, let us rise (literally and metaphorically) and walk upon this path. Let us, ourselves, expand this path into an avenue.
Tomorrow, bring a candle with you so that together we may illuminate the path of Empathy and the path of the right to Coexistence and to many colors.
We await you.
