The 2-hour interactive, educational program on EMPATHY AND SPORTS EDUCATION (ATHLETIC CULTURE) created by the Structure continues, in cooperation (collaboration) with the Deputy Mayor’s Office for Education, Lifelong Learning & Culture of the Municipality of Kalamaria. ( Αντιδημαρχία Παιδείας, Διά Βίου Μάθησης & Πολιτισμού Δήμου Καλαμαριάς.)

A day ago, the students of the E2 grade of the 1st Elementary School of Kalamaria visited the Children’s Library of the Karampournaki Settlement. (Παιδική Βιβλιοθήκη Συνοικισμού Καραμπουρνάκι) Through audiovisual material and theatrical techniques provided by the drama therapist (theatre educator) of the Education Department, they entered the story and were asked to answer questions such as:

Is athletic violence a choice?

What is the purpose of sports?

Is there a way to react to incidents of violence?

The evolution of our program into a theater-pedagogical one regarding violence, with an emphasis primarily on fan violence, was titled: “Alkis means Changing culture.”

The children took on roles and realized that we all have the right to multi-coloration (diversity), to a plurality of voices, to the acceptance of the other, to the harmonious coexistence of different teams, and to the cultivation of empathy.

We hope that the example of the Municipality of Kalamaria and the corresponding Deputy Mayor’s Office will soon be followed by other Municipalities.
