“February 1st 2022 – In the Name of Alkis” Structure, a non-profit organization based on Volunteerism, announces the organization of the 2nd Road Race for the PANHELLENIC SPORTS FAN DAY.
Following the multifaceted success of the 1st race and the desire of participating organizations and citizens to repeat it, we “dive” again into deep waters and proceed with the organization of the 2nd Race. We are giving a large part of our society the opportunity to shout, through their diverse participation, that SPORTS UNITE, THEY DON’T KILL…
In fact, we are proud to announce that the first person to register for the 5km race is a member of our Structure who lives permanently in Munich and will travel to Thessaloniki specifically to run in this unique race!
RACE GOALS:
Through mass participation, we aim to convey the following messages:
- We run to honor Panhellenic Sports Fan Day.
- We run to honor the memory of Alkis Kampanos.
- We run wearing the jerseys and colors we love, as it is our right and a symbolic gesture against violence.

SPORTS UNITE, THEY DON’T KILL.
Many unique stories of people for one special Road Race…
How could someone gather everything they felt during yesterday’s extraordinary road race, and how could they communicate it?
Alkis—our child, our brother—has UNITED us once again.
First, he united us: a group of volunteers originating from Civil Society. Step by step, seed by seed, an organization was created that, with self-sacrifice, offers our society opportunities to actively participate in memory and in the change of “fan culture” and beyond…
Then, he united all of you, one by one.
– You, who joined forces to realize a multi-level action; you, who got soaked to the bone but remained at your posts so this race could happen: the VOLUNTEERS, the RESCUERS, and everyone who helped us voluntarily.
– He united you, who left a white flower for Alkis, who ran the 5km, who got drenched at the starting line of the 1km.
So many stories, as many as those of us who were there yesterday…
From the volunteer with disabilities in her wheelchair at a crossroad,
To the 15-year-old children from Serres or the young man from Koufalia, who all took the bus alone just to come and run,
To the wonderful children of M.A.m.A. (Association for the Care of People with Autism) from Veria and KDAP Helios from Karditsa, who came—just like last year—with parents, escorts, and friends to participate,
To the three little girls who ran along with their dog,
To those who traveled from Athens and from so many other places, near and far.
We stand beside you. We won’t settle for formal words. We hugged many of you, we asked for your names, we felt your emotions…
You all greatly helped to continue the colorful “Actions of Coexistence” that began with the march for Alkis during the first year…
We humbly thank you with smiles and deep emotion from the bottom of our hearts.
Our next immediate goal is the creation of a memorial worthy of the “Alkis of us all”…
We share a few of the many powerful moments of the 2nd race.
For Alkis. For sports without violence. Towards new significant future actions.
