The 19 candles placed by volunteers of the “February 1st, 2022 – In the Name of Alkis” Structure at the site where Alkis Kampanos was murdered, illuminated—on the cold night of January 31st, 2026—the message: “ALKIS, YOU LIVE ON AND WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.”
The notes, the lyrics, and the voices of the artists who performed their soul-stirring songs, LIFTED this slogan to the skies of Thessaloniki, to the skies of Greece; and we now know well that this message permeates and illuminates vast segments of this society… but we also know that this light has definitively entered our Education system, and we believe it will continue to light the path for a better society of tomorrow.
Sports can unite…
Music conveys… emotions and thoughts.
Alkis unites Greece and brings it light…
The names of the artists who profoundly moved us on Saturday night, performing the two songs dedicated to Alkis, are:
● Michalis Iliaskos performed “Do not hit me anymore” (lyrics by Periklis Reizis); both hailing from Peplos, Evros.
● Nikos Katsikas, from Thessaloniki, performed “Farewell, Alkis” (written by himself), accompanied on guitar by Vassilis Mokkas.
It is one thing to simply hear a song, and a profoundly different experience when—at such a location, on such a night—you see and hear people revealing their talent and their empathy before your very eyes…
