What was probably inevitable to happen, has happened…
The shop at the site of Alkis Kampanos’s murder has been leased.
With a heavy heart today (following consultation with Alkis’s family), we will collect and TEMPORARILY store, we believe, everything that people of all ages have left at the site.
Jerseys, scarves, notes, drawings… EVERYTHING carries the energy of sensitized (aware) citizens, and we will approach them with absolute respect.
We feel sadness, reaching even more intense emotions, because we are forced to withdraw the memorial for Alkis (for every action taken, as well as every jersey placed at the spot, is a memorial), but…
But we intend to transform our emotions into ACTION…
The Municipality of Thessaloniki ( Δήμος Θεσσαλονίκης ), or more accurately the previous Administration, did its… “utmost” regarding what occurred in Thessaloniki.
They planted 3 olive trees in a park and performed a street naming ceremony…
We address the new Administration of the Municipality of Thessaloniki and publicly request a meeting with Mayor Mr. Angeloudis, so that an idea of ours can be put into practice by the Municipality: to create a memorial space at the spot where Alkis Kampanos was murdered.
Mr. Mayor of Thessaloniki, we ask you to show the sensitivity (awareness) that we believe you possess and to co-operate (collaborate) with a Civil Society organization, the “Structure February 1st, 2022 – In the Name of Alkis,” on this specific matter.
